Oh People

31 Jul

There is a sign, a spray painted plywood sign, on my way to Michael’s house, that reads:

“Obama and his government are UN-AMERICAN! Let’s take back OUR country!”

It used to read:

“Obama, the Socalist, Racist, is ruining the country….” yada yada yada… I can’t remember exactly how it was worded.

The people who made this sign are the same people who, during the election, had another plywood sign supporting John McCain. I believe that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but come on, plywood spray painted signs? Get a little class.

And incase nobody has been paying attention, American has gone down the shitter in the past few years (none of which was Obama’s fault)… so even IF “his government” is un-American, maybe thats what we need. A country founded on stealing land from its original inhabitants and killing people for no reason other than to gain land, could probably use a little bit of change, wouldn’t you agree?

And how, exactly, do you plan on taking back YOUR country, Mr. and Mrs. Plywood sign? Are you planning on assasinating Obama? Are you hoping that the other ignorant people who happen to drive by your house will see your sign and get inspired? Hmm?

Jeeze, people…

Shut up already!

DISCLAIMER: I don’t normally write about politics. I’m not and expert nor do I claim to be, so if you don’t like what I’m saying, too bad. Stop reading.

I am increasingly peeved with ignorant people, close minded people, and people who do nothing but cry about how awful they’ve got it.

It seems like no one has anything positive to say about Barack Obama these days. And quite frankly, I’m tired of listening to all this negativity.

They are making it seem like he hasn’t done ANYTHING at all. And they’re making it seem like the state of the economy, the huge debt that we’re in, and the status of the war.. are HIS fault.

Pardon me, but I believe we had someone else in office for the past 8 years who had just a TINY bit to do with all that.

God forbid someone with some new ideas comes into office and doesn’t change the whole damn world in his first 6 months. The man has 3.5 more years to go… give the guy a break.

And shut up, all you activist out there who haven’t gotten your way just yet. Just because Obama promised your group something if he was elected, and hasn’t come through for you yet, doesn’t mean he won’t. My god, the man has come into a crippled system, give him some time to sort things out. You are NOT the only people with important issues, sorry to burst your bubble.

That is not to say that I do not have sympathy for these people, I do. I just don’t think it is logical or reasonable to get all worked up THIS early. Give him a chance to prove himself.

And everyone else, who is so against his health care plan and the gun laws and the people he’s got in his cabinet and all the rest of it… just shut up. Think about things rationally… don’t just run your mouth because you’re so stuck in your ways you can’t even give new ideas a second thought.

Everyone, just shut up. If Obama is failing us miserably by 2011, then you can start complaining… and I promise I won’t tell you to shut up then. Until then, grow up, shut up, and give him half a chance.

Cold World, Hardened Hearts

8 May

Excerpts from “Cold World, Hardened Hearts”… It’s 5 pages… so I’m only posting bits and pieces.. but I’d REALLY appreciate it if you’d take the time to read it…and feedback is always appreciated.

Cold World, Hardened Hearts

No one’s listening and no one cares
No one seems to hear my prayers
I’m getting pulled beneath the surface
In my life I’ve lost all purpose

Lost any strength to care
Life is just so unfair
But that’s the way it has been forever
I’m searching for the secret lever
To open up the secret door
To a world where no one could ask for more

Everyone near and far would come
To experience the feeling of bliss
Something no one can find in this
World so cold in which we dwell
So cold yet it feels like hell
So cold that it burns
Watching as the world turns
Slowly to reach the beginning of the end
Waiting to start over again
Maybe the new world will be improved
I hope that someone has been moved
By the words that cross their stricken face
Hope you recognize the evil in this place
Corrupt ways have become every day life
People pulling guns and knives
Likes it’s no big thing, like it won’t affect
Anyone, we all chose to neglect
There’s hunger, starvation
It’s sweeping the nation
No one does a damn thing
Don’t even try to tell me people bring
Hope and care
Only when someone’s there
To acknowledge it
This makes me sick
So few will do things on their own
Unless they’ll be placed on some sort of throne

… when people do help it’s not from pity
It’s for fame and popularity
You’ve got so much to offer, to give
You can stop this death and help people live
But you chose to stand by and just say “too bad”
Yeah, well I really hope you’re glad
Because there’s so much to do
So many places to see
To understand what this would mean to me
And everyone for that matter
Just climb up the ladder
Just let go and feel the pull of gravity
Then you tell me if you see
What it’s like to live in such a place
Where pain is a feeling you can’t erase
It’s all you’ve ever felt and known
Haven’t got a place to call your own
Don’t live in million dollar mansions…
You don’t need to add new expansions
To the perfect things your life already contains
Your health and your happiness still remains
While there are people out there getting killed
Too many tears wasted, too much blood spilled
Do something, come on, step up to the plate
I’ll give you the key to open the gate
But do it because you know that it’s right
Don’t do it because you feel you must fight
For fame or popularity or glory
God this is a disgusting story
You people make me so damn sick
I’m watching a new dog do the same old tricks
And it’s getting old, I’m getting tired
If I could, I’d say that you’re all fired
From this life because you don’t appreciate
The things that were brought to you by fate
You were chosen to have a good life
You don’t have to face the kind of strife
That other people live with on a daily basis
Half of you can’t even face this:
Pain is a part of today and tomorrow
Everyone feels anguish and sorrow
That doesn’t mean that you just give in
You keep on fighting until you win
You keep marching on and keep pushing forward
You’ll find that there’s something to look toward
A new day, a new light, you can find the way
I’m looking up to the sky, please hear me say
I have faith that we can make it through this existence
We’ve got to get past the feelings of resistance
You’ve got to understand the depth that I possess
You need to know that this is how I progress
No other way to let my emotions show
This is the only way to let you know
The way that I’m feeling and the way that things are
You don’t realize that one word goes so far

So I’m just asking for understanding
It’s not something that I’m demanding
It’s just something that I’m requesting
I hope you realize while you’re resting

… I push on and pull forward until I’ve reached the end of the rope
And I realize that there’s still hope
That there’s still time for people to comprehend
The message that I’m trying to send
And if this touched anyone
That means that my work here is done
But if it hasn’t, I’ll just try another time
I’ll just make another rhyme

And hope that you can find simplicity
In my words because I know more than you think
I’m a fountain of understanding, come take a drink
Become a part of me
See what I see
Know and understand
Don’t just write things in the sand
Write them in stone
Don’t leave this alone

This is my elimination
This is my amputation
From the world of people with hardened hearts
I watch in dismay as the horror starts
Just another day of futile stress
Just watching as you chose to repress
I can’t stand the way people act these days
Please can’t you remove the haze
Make me see why no one cares
Why no one acknowledges the burden when they know it’s there
I guess I’ll never understand
Why no one can comply with my demand
But it’s ok because I’ve just accepted
That this is a world that’s been neglected
So here is my full attention
I’m giving everyone a suspension
I’ll try to fix this on my own
Allow my efforts to be shown
Just know that I’m the type that cares
I recognize the burden that this world bears
And I swear I’ll do whatever it takes
To relieve the world from its mistakes

Nobody

Nobody

Hi, I’m nobody. Who are you?
Are you a nobody too?
Do people listen when you speak?
Or do they think that you’re just weak?
Do you feel you have a purpose?
Or are you lost up on this surface?
Do you have a message you try to send?
Is anyone able to comprehend?
Or maybe they think it’s just pretend
Maybe they don’t want to spend
The time to actually hear
Maybe then it’d be too clear
Maybe they’d have to face the facts
Maybe reality causes panic attacks
Maybe ignorance is bliss
And maybe I’m not okay with this
I’m so tired of nobody listening to me
I’m sick of knowing that all they see
Is just a stupid little girl
When I’ve always been so much more

Hi, I’m nobody. Who are you?
Are you a nobody too?

Empty Soul

Excerpt from “Empty Soul”

Empty Soul

….

My soul is empty; my hope did shatter
I’m nothing now but a walking cadaver
Simply occupying space
Surely someone could replace
Me in this world
Go find yourself another girl
Another tragedy to read
Someone else you can make bleed
I’ve bled my soul onto the pages
Left my memories for the ages
Words poured from the seams of my broken heart
I said it before when you tore me apart
Left forsaken in the cold
All the stories that we told
The meanings were lost
The greatest cost
Forgetting that in this existence
The only reason there is resistance
The only reason we lack peace
Is because ignorance is a deadly disease
I’ve been fighting for the cure for years
Cried so many useless tears
Just trying to open people’s eyes
Trying to expose the lies
Just trying to help others see
That in this brief eternity
Love is what will get us through
My soul is empty thanks to you

Jumbled Thoughts

Jumbled Thoughts

Innocence
Ignorance
They are one in the same
Clarity
Solidarity
Things that you claim
No I’m sorry
That’s incorrect
Shall we take a moment to inspect
What type of person are you?
Can you look me in the eyes and tell me the truth
Or will you lie
There’s an animal about to die
Will you save it?
There’s a child abandoned in the street
Will you take it in?
Will you confess your sin?
Humanity is not an excuse for mistakes
Yes they’re something that everyone makes
But it’s no excuse
You know what’s right and wrong
You don’t have to belong
To a group of people who only do what’s right
But you should know when to give up,
And when you should fight
You should know when to stop
When to let go
Yes you’re human but that doesn’t make it okay
I don’t really know what to say
So many people go through each day
In ambiguous ways
Different word plays
Lying under their breath
Never at rest
Always second best
Never number one
But still having fun
Still having the time of their lives
Smoking guns and bloody knives
Murder’s, prostitutes, dealers
Around every corner
True identities hidden behind closed doors
Cheaters hidden beneath loose floorboards
Jumbled thoughts running about
Something I can’t be without
Nothing makes sense anymore
Isn’t that what you’re here for?

Ignorance is a deadly disease

29 Jan

Ignorance is a deadly disease.

Let’s be realistic for a moment, shall we?

We are a world full of ignorant idiots. I heard yesterday that ignorance simply means not yet taught. True. To an extent anyway. The problem with ignorance is that it is so common it goes unnoticed in our everyday lives. You’ve heard of the phrase “Hiding in plain sight”. I cannot even begin to list the number of ignorant things I hear spewed out of the mouths of friends, co-workers, family, and especially in the media every day. Yes, we are all guilty of this idiocy. Admittedly, there are some who are guiltier than others. I too am guilty; I will not deny it, though if I did, it would only serve to further prove my point.
But to be perfectly honest, I’m tired of it. I’m tired of listening to ignorance day in and day out. I’m tired of nobody being called out on just how ignorant they truly are. I’m tired of just keeping my mouth shut when I hear what has been fondly referred to as verbal diarrhea.
How many times have you had a conversation with someone who is completely arrogant about something they know nothing about? How often have you listened to an opinion with virtually no basis in reality?
Ignorance is the cause for racism. It is the cause for sexism. It is the cause for war. It is literally the cause of everything bad in the world.
I’m sick of it, and you should be to.
There IS a simple cure to this disease. Get educated. Don’t make judgments based on assumptions with no basis in reality. Go out there and learn about people before you decide they aren’t good enough for you. The list is endless.
I highly doubt that ignorance will ever go away, but together we can greatly reduce the amount of it in the world.

Give truth a chance.

Social Destruction

9 Dec

Social Destruction
Trapped in New York City
Do my eyes deceive me?
Can this reality truly be?
The metamorphosis is nearly complete
Soon they will all succumb to defeat
For separating themselves has destroyed them all
Desperately they built the wall
To keep out the “others” who weren’t the same
Didn’t want to be tainted by the shame
Of being different.

But soon enough one wall was no longer adequate
And all their time then was spent
Building up their fortress of isolation
They would erect their own nation
In it would be only those who were worthy
It was essential to keep out the enemy
The “others” whose ways they so desperately feared
And all the ties to the outside quickly were sheared
And for a brief epoch they continued to exist
Never feeling the need to call the exorcist
For what evil could befall them now?

But ignorance is a deadly disease
They had a desire they had to appease
Every other race needed to end in elimination
For none were worthy of this sacred nation
And for that they should be made to pay
Only the “righteous” should survive one day
Being different was the ultimate sin
The one committed from within
The one that would result in annihilation

So with full heads and hearty egos they prepared for the war
The one they had been waiting their whole lives for
The one that would make them the sole heirs to the planet
The world would have only them in it
Because everyone else did not belong
They had already existed for far too long
And their weapons were drawn

The attempts to destroy every inferior race
Each person with a tinted face
Each person differently spoken
Each should become a trophy token
But the evil fell

The wall was built too high
Ever stretching towards the sky
All revved up and ready for a war
That was never worth fighting for
And no one to destroy now but each other

It was a shame that they didn’t see
That in this brief eternity
We are all living for one purpose
To dwell as humans on the surface
Together, despite each different face
Only forming one, the human race
Now none survive
