This is a cross out poem from 2006. I used a page of the book Petals on the Wind by V.C. Andrews, a book I just finished reading again a few weeks ago. So, a cross out exercise is just what it sounds like, you cross out the majority of the words on the page and leave only a few to create a poem. (I didn’t really cross anything out, I just picked words. I’ve never been able to bring myself to write in a book.)
Temptation
Kiss me like other men
Only better Catherine
So many mistakes
Give me chances
Scream for help
I whispered
I thought you loved me
Foolish
Love was knocking
You are beautiful and desirable
Tempt me
Don’t love me
Hide shamelessly
Just use me
That will be enough
Girls get hurt
When they play games
Don’t rush desire
I have guilt
My soul
I’m not a saint
